2020 was the year I became a vegetable farmer 😂
Living on a farm during lockdown meant that we were very lucky to have lots of green space to make the most of. So we spent a lot of weekends in March digging veg patches and moving soil from the polytunnel to the greenhouse. For anyone who knows me knows, manual labour is NOT my brand, but they kept me topped up with cake and wine and eventually we had our own little kitchen garden.
It has been such a dream this year and has done the impossible, it’s made me really appreciate vegetables? Who knew that was possible?
We’re now starting to plan this year’s garden. We learnt a lot last year about what works and what doesn’t, as well as what we actually eat at the end of it! The plan this year is to grow more of the things we use in our cooking every day and less of the things that we grew but ended up going to waste (I’m looking at u Celeriac)
Last year’s crop was:
Tomatoes 🍅
Cucumbers 🥒
Courgettes
Padron Peppers 🫑
Loads of different chillis 🌶
Celeriac
Aubergine 🍆
Spring onion
White onions 🧅
Baby carrots 🥕
Pumpkins
Green beans
Runner beans
Sweet peas
Beetroot
Artichokes
Radishes
Potatoes🥔
& soooo much salad🥬
